The Matriarch is part of a series exploring the Sikh Diaspora across generations. The larger than life paintings imagines dreamscape that bring together ancestors, symbols and other potent visual references across time.The project started in the middle of 2025 driven by The Swimming Pool as a reference in recent times. The Public Swimming Pool particularly and the Civil Rights movement within the United States of America in the 1960’s. 

Throughout this series of larger than life portraitures the artist reimagines , redesigns and redirects the experiences of the Globe South and beyond with their established and continued struggles.The artist depicts their true victories existence, survival, beauty in colourful, bright moments of abundance and joy. 

Taking inspiration and historical archival direction from the very popular African and African American artists the likes of Kehinde Wiley, Amy Sherald and William Kentridge to name a few she uses familial lore , personal experiences and lot of readings from historical researchers to reflect on truths, displacement, sociological violence and trauma. Within these ideas she reshapes archival memory as it is often shaped by those in power. The artist seeks to rebuild a version of Truth that reinforces Power, beauty, strength and Prominence while creating something that can carry these stories forward as archival imagery .
